Mechanical Engineer / Leading Hand

Roteq Australia is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Leading Hand to join our Field Service team in Bibra Lake, Western Australia.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanical professional to work across the full lifecycle of turbomachinery mechanical systems projects — from design, planning and installation through to commissioning, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Analysing and troubleshooting turbomachinery and mechanical systems
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and component investigations
  • Leading and supervising field service teams and assigned labour
  • Overseeing installation, commissioning, start-up, repair and maintenance activities
  • Providing technical advice to customers on operation, maintenance and overhaul programs
  • Monitoring engineering processes and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Preparing detailed site reports, findings and recommendations
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Supporting quality improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identifying customer needs and potential sales opportunities
  • Promoting safe and environmentally responsible work practices
Experience & Qualification
 

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience and education
  • Extensive experience with rotating equipment and turbomachinery
  • Experience with compressors, turbines, gearboxes, pumps and centrifuges
  • Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Dry Gas Seals
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and rotating machinery
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial plants and equipment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with customers, contractors, colleagues and management
  • A flexible approach to working across different sites, customers and operating conditions
  • Full Australian work rights required.

As a Leading Hand, you will play an important role in:

  • Supervising and supporting field service team members
  • Coordinating work activities and project strategies
  • Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to required standards
  • Participating in team and weekly Field Service meetings
  • Understanding and implementing project policies
  • Leading projects and teams effectively
